AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND BOUTIQUE WINE SHOW 2016


 

The 21st anniversary trophy dinner celebrated a record 15 trophies from 16 classes recognising outstanding 2013, ’14 and ’15 vintages.

CHARDONNAY TOPS THE LIST

Margaret River’s Grace Farm Chardonnay 2014 took top honors when Chairman Huon Hooke announced that they had won the Max Lake Memorial Chardonnay Trophy, White Wine of Show and Wine of Show trophies.

The souvenir Results Book describes the chardonnay as having “excellent fruit concentration, well handled oak and beautiful balance”.

Red Wine of Show was won by New Zealand’s Judge Rock Pinot Noir 2014. Owners Angela and Paul Jacobson travelled from Central Otago, to accept their trophy.

The four course trophy dinner at Manjit’s @ King Street Wharf, Sydney, served all 15 wines to a crowd of winemakers, sponsors and wine lovers on Monday 11 July..

Western Australia took the Chardonnay; Sauvignon Blanc; Other White Wines with Vermentino; Merlot; Cabernet and Bordeaux Blend. South Australia Shiraz, Sparkling; Riesling and Rose. NSW Semillon; Other Reds with Barbera and a Viognier Dessert wine. New Zealand took Pinot Noir and Victoria Fortified.
